Replacement gas cap for 1967 window van Empty Replacement gas cap for 1967 window van

Post by bubbafrye Wed Aug 01, 2012 2:06 pm

I finally did the inevitable and drove off from the gas station with my gas cap on the roof.

I picked up a locking cap, but it doesn't really fit well.

I've been looking at few different styles to replace my replacement, but thought I'd throw out a net for some style [model #'s?] suggestions from someone that can testify to the fit.

Will a Falcon gas cap fit the neck on these vans/trucks?

    thanks!

    That flip-top is nice.

Anyone else have any aftermarket suggestions that they have personally seen fit?

That or a correct part# for a stock replacement?

    Thanks!

This is what I got for an econo. The part number crosses back to earlies on other sites and this works great on mine and is stainless.

I like about this cap it snugs up real nice.Good grip to twist on and it
fills in the gap in that area.I`ve also filled in one, in the middle with
filler and painted it to match the body color.Replacement gas cap for 1967 window van 01611

thanks for the testimonials guys. I ordered one of the ones Stunami suggested, but I'll probably grab one of zbermen's too for a backup Wink

anyone else had any luck with a locking cap?

    just a follow-up.

I got one of the caps that Stunami pointed to: http://shop.vintageford-streetrod.com/1949-59-Pass-1951-70-Pickup-Gas-Cap-8A-9030.htm
and it totally fit snug as a bug.

Visually, it is a little small, you can see the filler neck mounting screws behind the cap, but I swung by Home Depot and got some stainless #8 1/2 inch screws and it's clean enough for me. I'll post pics when I get a chance.

Glue a econo horn button on it. I read here somewhere that's what some people were doing to old horn buttons. I think it would then hide the screws.
