    took the gas fill tube out of the body today to repaint it and noticed there wasnt a gasket there between the body and filler flange.
    wondered if there ever was one there?

    i noticed the gas cap sits a little far away from the body and a gasket would bring it closer

    No gasket from the factory. You can always try adding one

    you may not want to add a gasket, you want your filler neck well grounded to the body of the van when you are fueling to disapate static electricity that builds up

    If you have screws on it that hold it to the body,,,,that would ground it and make a gasket a good idea,,,,,,

    Probably the best thing a gasket would do is move the gas cap in closer to make it look better,,,,,,

    all good points thanks
    got some rubber and cut a gasket, and to me it was worth it as now the gas cap looks to fit better to the body
    also made sure it was still grounded

    ps i made a gas cap cover out of an old econoline horn button, looks sharp to me
