fuel pump for the 170???? Empty fuel pump for the 170????

Post by lectricman Tue Jul 26, 2011 3:06 am

a quick question this morning.... will a fuel pump from a mustang or falcon 170 fit my econoline 170??? there is about a $20-$25 difference in price and I have a horrible time with that odd bolt on the one on my econoline so I thought I would go with one from the mustang/falcon??? the auto parts places say I might have clearance issues inside the block?/ did they really make a different 170 block in the 60's for the econoline???? what pumps are you guys running out there???? Thanks...

one runs off the side of the cam.... the econo, and one ones off the top... the falcon/mustang

when I purches this motor, I bought it for the 1963 Econoline.... don't remember it being said it was only an econoline motor????

fuel pump for the 170???? Empty Many Falcon parts work on Econolines

    Post by Vanner63 Sun Aug 14, 2011 8:05 am

An example is the raditor issue. They are not available for the Econoline anywhere. But, if you go to Advance Auto parts and ask for a 1965 Mustang radiator with a six cylinder engine they will hand you the equivalent of an Econoline radiator. You will have to either switch the mounting brackets left to right and right to left or use longer attachment bolts and spacer bushings, like I did, to mount it. You will also have to take some snips and trim the bracket so that it slides down into the doghouse easily. Anyone with a little mechanical knowledge can have one installed in about 45 minutes including the modifications. You now have a properly looking stock application, it cools great in 100 degree temps. even without the belly pan and even at idle. No weird looking aftermarket aluminum radiator that leaks. Its also three row instead of the original two row you took out. The part number is 433251.

Fuel pumps, timing chain and gears, oil pumps all usually cross with Falcons and Mustangs. And 170 and 200 engines are pretty much the same except for the bore.
