Wheels and such Empty Wheels and such

Post by Rayallen Fri Jul 08, 2011 1:41 pm

From my understanding any wheel that will fit on a 1960s falcon and fairline will fit my van coming. I want to have New wheels and tires ready to go before my van arrives from San Francisco in the coming weeks. The van sits at stock height. What specification/size should I look at for both wheels and tires.

My Van is a stock 1964 Panel

Didn't some Falcons have four bolt patterns?

You may be correct - I think early Mustang wheels will fit but I am no expert in this dept. Before you make the leap though do some research on this forum and think about what size you want (14", 15" - bigger??) width of tires, whether you want to eventually upgrade to discs, etc, etc.

Others more knowledgeable will probably chime in but resist the temptation to make a quick decision. That's my 2 cents.

Thinking im going to try a Cragar Soft 8 wheel. The van is white so I need something to offset that. Thinking about painting the bumpers black to.

I've got two early Falcons and they have the 4 bolt pattern with 13 inch rims. My Econo had 14's with the 5 x 4.5 pattern which looked to be stock. I just got my 17x7's for the front today... Twisted Evil

The Early Econos had 5-hole, 4.5" bolt pattern. The early rims were 5.5" or 6" wide. Be sure to look for a zero offset wheel to keep centered over the bearings.

Just about any of the Ford cars from the 60s and 70s had the same rims. Some of these had 4 or 5 bolts.

    Maverick 64-73
    Mustang 64-73
    Fairlane 64-73
    Falcon 64-73
    Ranchero 65-84
    Comet 68-78
    Cougar 68-78
    Marquis 68-78
    Montego 68-78

Among the modern Fords, the Ranger 81-08 and the Aerostar van 85-97 had the same 5-bolt rims. I currently have 14" Ranger rims on my Œ64.

Its a pain in the ass to find wheels that you want with zero offset, majority are neg or pos.

I don't think that many of us with aftermarket wheels have zero offset! I just checked American Racing's website and mine don't. My wheels have rolled a little over 20k miles with no problems.

Anyone looking for a set of 13" wheels? The guy I bought my van from said the 13" were factory... Is this true?

My Œ64 Heavy Duty came with 13" rims, which were original.
My first Œ65 came with 14" rims, which I think were original.
My Œ65 SuperVan came with 15" rims, but may not have been original.
