headlght switch removal Empty headlght switch removal

Post by BADBADGER Wed Jun 08, 2011 1:40 pm

Im trying to remove all of the dash knobs on my 67 A100. I want to remove all of the switches for cleaning and repair of wireing. The headlight switch shaft is a triangle shape. There is no set screw on the knob and it does not want to twist off. I dont want to destroy the knob getting it off. What am I missing or not seeing that will allow removel of the knob?

    Thanks in advance!

should be a release button on the top of the switch... pull the knob to on position, press little button on switch body, pull out the shaft. Then a couple nuts will hold the switch to the dash from where you just removed the knob..

Went thru this alittle while ago taking out the harness on the parts van, the button I think is on the side of the switch towards the center of the van,, it can be stubborn to remove even then but it will come out !

I looked at the knobs and the switches. There were no set screws, indentation or buttons anywhere. The swtches might be after market. Finally had to cut the knobs off with my air hack saw.

What a Face As said, the headlight switch knob comes off with the shaft.
Press a button on the shaft while pulling. It's the round part just behind the square on the front in this picture.

The others in the dash have an Allen set screw, usually on the bottom. Cutting them off means buying a new wiper switch and finding another headlight knob and shaft.
