What are you up to? - Page 38 Empty Salvage Yard

Post by sandyvan Sun Jan 06, 2013 10:31 pm

Also today, headed over to the local salvage yard to get an S10 door gasket to go on my doghouse, look for a bench seat (fail), and a small fan to hook up under the doghouse Donivan style. There were a few interesting cars, but mostly Dodge neons and a lot of really crappy 80's cars.

My netxt project once the van is "Best in Show" ready may be a third gen El Camino

Nice set of seats in this Fiero, but wrong color for me. They also had a few old GMC Jimmy's and Blazers and the seats in those looked perfect for our vans.

I didn't quit! The batteries on my sawzall died trying to cut through the frame rails. I was hoping to get back to it this weekend but scheduling didn't work out. Hopefully I can get back sometime this week. Sandyvan, let me know if you wanna help out Smile Sarah and I started pulling stuff off that van on Christmas Eve day. We got 4 doors, wiring harnesses, the side step, and also picked up some folding rear seats out of an Aerostar. It was a fun time and her first time at a pick and pull.

It was disappointing that we couldn't get the front off, as you noticed we were almost there!

Aw man, you beat me to the folding seats! None of the ones I found would turn into a bed, an the regular one's were just not good enough to mess with. Still holding out for some early tube frame seats.

Yeah, I looked at that Econoline and thought, man, it sure has been picked! Send me a PM when you're ready to go back and I'll see if I can break free.

If someone could kindly add the pics from this Facebook link

you will see what I'm up to. I got these wheels on Tuesday from Ron in Temperance,Mi. who is the new owner of Don's 63 Falcon van. You probably remember Don was the guy trying to find Dagenham 4 speed rebuild parts a year or 2 ago but wound up buying a 3 speed setup off me to swap it out with, then he found a guy thru Hemmings to fix the 4 speed and reinstalled it. The wheels were on his van but the wheel wells had been hacked out to make them fit. I hooked the new owner Ron up with repair panels I bought off Hellfish in exchange for the wheels and we both are happy. The wheels fit in my wells perfectly since mines tubbed and narrowed.

Wow added my lunch from a year ago pic too,thx guys:-)
The rims are oddballs measuring 11" wide. I would have expected them to be either 10's or 12's. They are exact bolt pattern too,not unilug. The tires are L 60 14's.
The front's I haven't test fit yet but the rims are 8" wide. I know they fit ok when they were on the 63 that they came off of but mine is lowered so it may not be the same. I have other skinnier ones I can use if it's an issue.
The rear though, fit just like I wanted. Guess I just got lucky.

Casimier, wouldn't surfboards sell just as great in Cal as they do in Jersey?
