after market ammeter Empty after market ammeter

Post by Guest Tue Oct 07, 2008 2:51 pm

i recently had the generator removed and installed a GM alternator on the blue van.
my dad was helping me with this project but he decided not to help me anymore.. and went down to Mexico to travel for an unknown amount of time....
thats why i have been posting questions left and right..
the OG ammenter, on the instrument cluster where it says ALT, its not there anymore. there is nothing there, i believe there used to be a light bulb sometime in the life of the van but its long gone, and my question here is,,
how do i install one in the van,, it doesnt have to be in that same exact location.
    thanks.

Go up to GENERAL DISCUSSION and I WANT THIS FARGO,,,,we are into ammeters big time!!!!!
Ammeters need to be in the wire that goes from the alternator output to the battery. But I don't like them,,,,they just tell you if its charging,,,,not how much. A Voltmeter is better. You probably only got an idiot light in the dash,,,,
