Bill, There is a 5/16" pin thru the shaft that the spider gears rotate on. Pull this pin and slide the shaft out enough to push the axle in toward the center and you can remove the c-clip with a magnet. Becarefull not to pull the spider axle shaft out to far, as the spider gears and shims will come out.
