3rd gen power stering in V8 adapt to 250 straight 6? Empty 3rd gen power stering in V8 adapt to 250 straight 6?

    Hello vanners,
My buddy has a straight 6 250 that he wants to put into a 70s third gen chevy van but the van had a V8 in it - so the engine mounts look ok and the th350 will bolt up to the motor but - what about the power steering? Is there adapters for this or does he need to get a third gen van that had a straight 6 in it instead of a V8 conversion to a 6?

There were plenty of 250's that had power steering in them, he should be able to find the brackets. I have a friend on the east coast that is about to send me the brackets and all. It might be a few weeks, but I will take pictures once I get it.

It's coming from the guy that I bought the engine from, but he says the bracket won't fit with the intake I have. I told him to send it anyway, that maybe I could put it on the next project. But, the next project has an A/C compressor right there, so I really am rolling the dice on what's going to fit, and what isn't.

I don't know what this bracket and pulley's are from, but GM used the straight 6 into the late 70s. Camaros, Pick-ups, Vans, and who knows what else. By the late 70s most, if not all, should have had power steering.

The pump would probably mount where this smog pump is,,,,,,and you need 2 groove pulleys for the belts and probably longer hoses.

My smog bracket was on the other side. Also have a 3 groove lower for some reason. But we all know GM was/is notorious for using 1400 different brackets & pulleys.Getting right combination can be a real treat sometimes.

    if you could find a 73 and up 250 in a pick-up with p-steering
the brackets and the pulley should work in the 3rd gen van
    with a six.
