i literally stood in front of my van in the driveway for about an hour tonight and carved this guy. i'll be mounting some big fat tires under the back and some other details and then mounting the van on a ring. i'm thinking it would be cool if the van was detachable so it could roll around on the table (or under the covers at night with a flashlight so mom doesn't catch you...) anyhow it'll be sterling silver, hope that made you smile! later steve

early van rings
hi guys last year i said i wanted to do some early van rings and pendants etc... i run a jewelry business in my after work hours and do all original carving and casting. thought i'd show off the latest effort... everything is carved out of wax first and then a mold is poured around it. after that the mold is burned out in a kiln at 1300 F and then molten gold or silver is forced into it with a centrifuge. i do all of this in my shop...

Re: early van rings
you can have the band anyway you want with texture or script or whatever, the band shown is a blank just to show the concept. i'll do this one in sterling. if a ring is wanted then i just need your ring size. just swing by a jewellers and git sized. chevys, dodges, econos, any style....

Re: early van rings
i'll carve up some pendants as well, i could do a front view of the face of the vans or they could be 3d like the one i carved aleady. if they are 3d i would have an arm reaching out the drivers window that would hold your chain and it would dangle from there. shoot me some ideas and i'll wax the best concepts. later steve

Re: early van rings
i should make a poll on what would be best to create, then i could make a mold and cast a half dozen at a time...

Re: early van rings
what i think i'll do is send the little van to vancouver for molding. i never duplicate anything i make but this time i will make an exception. due to the demand i can't possibly carve all these little vans individually. so i will get a mold made by professional jewelry moldsmen. this way i can crank these niblets out to meet demand. the price will be lower and you can specify rings or pendants. Cheers!!

Re: early van rings
200 bucks for mens ring with van. made of solid sterling. the general public would pay 270. shipping is free. it will be a while before they are available. thanks El Stevo...
