Who needs a dash skirt?
Who would be interested in seeing the Econoline dash skirt reproduced and what price do you consider reasonable for a brand new one? I posted some info under the another topic thread (info on 63 ford falcon van) which evolved into the dash skirt conversation. Since theres been no response whatsoever about it Im assuming its posted in a bad spot. Can the posts be moved here so they get more attention? Heres the link ;

Re: Who needs a dash skirt?
For a new one $150.00- $200.00. $150.00 may be a little on the low side though. I imagine that some people with money to burn would pay $300.00 or more.

Re: Who needs a dash skirt?
Mike, its in progress now and will be made regardless of cost since the guy needs one for his van. Once he makes the first one he will have a handle on the cost. He is hoping it will be exactly what you said, $150-$200.

Re: Who needs a dash skirt?
That would be fair. I wonder if he could make them a little taller like maybe 8"-10" instead of the stock 6"? A matching air tunnel/console going from the dog house to the skirt would really be bitchen, For those that want to go to a floor shifter an air tunnel made to accept a B&M shifter would be way cool.EconoUSAparts wrote:Mike, its in progress now and will be made regardless of cost since the guy needs one for his van. Re: Who needs a dash skirt?
I would be interested in one. I would pay 150-200 for one. Are there going to be options. I have a dash pad on mine and the firewall mounted heater. Will it work with those. I am ok with doing some modifications. Have also thought about getting rid of the dash pad on the glove box, so either way I would pick one up.

I sent one to Canada once and it cost over $100.00. Mostly because of the length.

Re: Who needs a dash skirt?
Talked to the guy yesterday and its in progress. The mold has been done, just some fine tune sanding going on right now before they try and pop out the first one. I woudnt think it would be too much longer.

Re: Who needs a dash skirt?
Ok,theres been a few delays with the new dash skirts but I actualy had one at my house today. My buddy Chris brought me the first one produced today for inspection. Overall it looks really good. There is a problem though; The passenger side doesnt fit the corner contour good enough. It sits about 1/4 inch away from the dash in the bend. If it was woodwork I woud caulk it and paint it but that wont be good enuf for our trucks:-) I was going to take this sample to the Nats for viewing but figured it was more important to give it back to Chris to fix the problem.
The first skirt I gave Chris to copy had the heater cutout in it. Im thinking when they filled in the gap the skirt may have been ever so slightly twisted and stayed that way after the fiberglass set up. Also he thinks the mold needs to be better reinforced.
So all that in mind, what I did was to give him a different skirt that I just recently got thats absolutely cherry with no cutouts at all in it. This should eliminate one of the variables in the twisting of it which created the gap. Additionally, I gave him a complete dash assembly to give to the shop so they can get this thing dialed in for a better fit. Hang in there folks,it's not as easy to make as you might think.

Re: Who needs a dash skirt?
I talked with Chris today. They made a second ,stronger reinforced mold 3 weeks ago and produced a skirt. However when they tried to remove it from the mold,it stuck and the mold got ruined in the process. Thats strike 2 and its gettin a little expensive at this point. A lot of time was spent on the second mold only for it to wind up ruined. Chris is going to discuss with the shop owner what the next step should be or if they decide to call it quits. He will let me know soon.

Re: Who needs a dash skirt?
I've been toying with making one for production too.
4", 6" and 8" for the E100 Econoline....
I'll be templating the dash this Saturday...
I can't see the end cost being more than $100
