Post by texasjohn Tue Mar 02, 2010 8:42 pm

This is where i'll post progress and pictures for this vanas it gets done....
    1966 Ford Falcon E, 240 w/ 3spd.
3-1-10...Got it in the driveway. After sitting for a month or so, i put a battery w/ 9volts left in it and on the 3rd or 4th rev. it fired right up. No brakes thoug. I used it to pull the 66 brown supervan from the driveway to the backyard. Motor seems to run decent. Havnt had it on the road yet. Thinkit needs an alt or regulator since it started smoking when i hooked upthe battery backwards...ooops. FYI, batt cables are/can be different fromone van to another....someone could have put different cables on over the years....track them back to where they came from.

3-14-10...Compession test,,100,130,125,110,120,110. Took rear doors off other panel to put on this one after sanding and priming. Also started to bleed brakes...then it got dark.

Hey, thanks for the pics. I have one of those spare tyre brackets that you have on the back of yours. It came with a load of spares for my van and i had absolutely no idea what it was until just now when i saw yours.... Smile

How many vans is that for you now? If I had more space I can see how it would be easy to amass amany.

Gonna get a rebuild kit then start rebuilding the whole brake system.....soon i hope. Found a two post lift for 500 bucks so im buying it this weekend. Anyone want to help poor a slab?????

You can take it apart and check if it will take a rebuild...
You seem to be a good wrench and already know this, but check the bottom of the bore for rust and damage. Water and crud settle to the bottom and that's where the damage will be.
At least you have part #s now.
Brake stuff isn't flashy and cool like wheels and chrome, but without brakes it has to sit in your yard.
