    Using the formula (0.00595) * (RPM * r) / (R1 * R2) = MPH,
where the loaded tire radius is 14in (~15in wheel + rubber) and R1 assumes a manual 3spd in 3rd gear (1:1) and R2 assumes a rear diff ratio of 3.55,
achieving a speed of 70mph would require 3000rpm sustained.

You could do it, but unless your engine is healthy you're probably pushing it.

Also, if your rear diff is a 3.96, your rpms will jump to ~3333. If you also have 14in wheels, it jumps all the way up to 3600 rpms. Ouch.

The Van could be set up for hauling or cruising,,,,,It may not even be able to go 70mph, so you need to see how it acts. The cooling system will probably be the critical item,,,,,you need a good radiator with good belts and hoses. You never know what will go wrong on a long trip,,,,,,gas leaks and wiring problems could catch the van on fire,,,,,bearings give up,,,,,,,,stuff comes loose and falls off,,,,,,,thats why you need to know what you got if you plan on owning an Early Van. I think a couple of fire extinguishers would be my favorite tool to carry,,,,,

Know one is saying it can't go on the highway, to make it really dependable you need to go threw the major systems in it. Remember everything there is 40 plus year old. May need updating , cleaned out , replaced to make it a go anywhere van
