the 8ball is in the early stages of heart failure. my 144 is gobbling itself alive like a dying star. anyhoo... any ideas for building a fire breathing 200 ci for my beast?
would you happen to know what vehicles may contain a 200? theres a pick and pull 10 minutes away and i bet i could find one there. would it be ok to use a very late model year 200? what would you suggest?
fairmont 1978-1983 mercury zephyr 1978-1983 ford maverick mercury comet granada 1975-1982 monarch same years ford ltd 1983-1984 mercury marquis the 200 would have to be a '65 or later to have the seven mains, but not later than 1980. due to the bell housing. it looks like i would have to find one of these vehicles with a standard transmission so that the bell housing would bolt on to "dinkus" the three speed. am i climbing the right curtains?
I am using a 200 from a 1976 Mustang. Bolts right in. The list you posted should work. 200 ci motors are pretty common and you can get up to 300 hp and 350 pounds of torque if you go with the Clifford 6=8 build. My 200 has really impressed me and the Clifford parts are sensational.
You can also try classicinlines.com over in AZ. Mike has great parts and it really made my 250ci run great. The parts will fit the 200ci as well. Give Mike a call and let him know what you are looking for.
I was going to go with classic inlines parts but every time I tried to order something it was out of stock, sometimes for months at a time so I went with Clifford who had everything I wanted in stock.
The dual out headers I am using came from Clifford, the rest from Classicinlines. I had a similar experience several years ago the other way around, no parts in stock from Clifford. Nearly went with stock six, but then I ran into classicinlines on the Ford Six Performance forum.
Either way you go the six will be powerful and unique.
If money isn't a problem I would go with Classic inlines aluminum head and an intake for three Webers then get the cam, ,headers from Clifford along with a Mallory distributor and Cliffords throttle body injection. You will get a lot of HP (over 300) and over 400 pounds of torque on your 200 ci. You will also need a nine inch rear if you don't already have one.
