this is just a pump so you would need a box to go with it. these new chev cobalts and pontiac g-5's with the power steering under the dash might be a better option for some hot rodded vans and trucks. the power steering is an electric motor with all the assist inside. haven't had a chance to work on one yet but might be an alternative for some. see if i can find a pic somewhere.

JKR,
The electric steering you are talking about is called Electra-Steer. It is made by a company called Unisteer. It is an electric assist steering that can be mounted under the dash or in the engine compartment out of sight. This is a realitively new item that came out in 2007. The universal model cost $995.
Here is the link to the Universal model: http://www.unisteer.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=UNISTEER&Product_Code=8051500&Category_Code=

Here is one problem BW.
From the 655740 UNIV ELECTRA-STEER INSTRUCTIONS
"The Unit is intended for normal highway use in
vehicles not exceeding 2800 lbs (1200 kg)"
But I think that the real limit should be the amount of torque needed to turn the shaft.
When I hit the lottery I'll get the Electra Steer Ididit Steering Column Kit.
Looks like it would have to be a floor shift set-up. But a normal size steering wheel with tilt and what the hell since I'm dreaming put the cruise control on it too.
