an idea was suggested , so i thought i would toss it out here and see how much interest there is
some of you know i own a crystal mineral claim in upstate NY
found there are "herkimer diamonds" the hardest carbon based quartz crystal found in north america and found only in this area of NY
some of cool "stuff" i have found there myself are here

The property quartz digs 100 yds west of the Barker/England Rd. intersection on Stone Arabia Rd. in the Town of Mohawk, Montgomery Co just on the outskirts of fonda,ny an easy 50 mile ride from the west on rt 90 to the nats and a very short ride from the town of "fonda" and "jamestown" NY

COST: will not be more than 10.00 a van for a nite includes digging/access fees for those onboard

FACILITIES: NONE,
no power , no water, or toilets (but they sometimes rebuild the outhouse thats there and if really needed limited power possible) this is a location in the woods
bare bones vanning at it's best
*driveway and parking is level ground, dry and is very travel able / van friendly -BUT low spoilers beware when you enter property
* pack out what you pack in *

there are local hotels/motels / restaurants and a TA truckstop nearby for hot showers and meal needs

what i am offering is a "dirty pumraw pitstop"
for anyone wanting to visit the location BEFORE OR AFTER THE NATIONALS, someplace to stop along the way, spend a nite or two or three ect before the gates open at the nats...

this is a very secluded , "cool" spot to visit and spend the night or two along the way or way home even also

there are also a couple other "digs" close by i will provide info for if you would like to make a tour of the areas herkimer mines and attractions like "fonda speedway"
"secret caverns" , "Howe caverns" area museums , and historic locations along the way

there is other "digging places" nearby here is some of that info
Hickory Hill is on Hickory Hill Road which starts on the east edge of Fonda off Rt. 5 across from Coal Yard. Up several miles to Martin Road. Stay on Hickory Hill. Site is on left about 1/2 mile past Martin. There is a swing gate nestled in among bushes. You can either pay $125/day for any number of people or go one of the summer holiday weekends Memorial, Fourth of July or Labor day. Fee last year was $5/day with free camping. Pit toilet, no showers. Bring your own Toilet paper for safety, they occasionally run out.
