So I'm about to get started breathing some new life into my 67. How can I tell if my six is a 250 or a 230? Please keep the flaming to a minimum, we all gotta start somewhere! LOL!

    Fu_Manchu,
You can also pull you casting numbers from your motor. And if you post them here we can look them up for you.

They would be located opn the side of the block pass side behind the distr.

I RIPPED it out of this book,,,,,I don't have too much faith in castings numbers,,,,,they seem to use the same numbers on a 230 and 250 since they have the same bore size. I would try and take a spark plug out,,,,put it at TDC and put a wire or something in there to see how far down the piston goes, which would be the stroke,,,,,230 stroke is 3 1/4",,,,,250 is 3 1/2"

sorry about the last post, from my phone. Here is the info.
    casting number:2084F19
Number stamped in by Distributor: F0121TCK
I didn't see a tab next to the distributor bolt, there was just the stamped in number.

Well let me ask this wouldn't most tune up parts be the same between both engines? Then ill just check the stroke when I tear into it.

194/230/250 all look the same,,,,I would choose 250 unless parts started being wrong,,,,then go with the 230,,,,
