Looks like a good start for a no door project. Wish it were closer.

FYI I am betting it is a 1964 - No BU lights & side emblems are not on the door. It does have a 1964 ignition key lock.
Potentially a 1965 but not a 1966.

Thats the short version of our official model, G1205, which means 1/2 ton Light Duty Forward Control Van,,,,,,your van has a 5 slot grille, which is from 1964,,,,,,,,a few 1965 vans, like mine, have that leftover body,,,,,your real VIN should read G1254P or G1255P,,,,,,,but stuff,,,,,,,,,,can fall off,,,,,,,,over the years

Cool / Interesting discussing item - none of the geometry detail line up to be a '66. A few more telltale items:
Latches on the log house - dual latches were a 1964 and up to aprox. March of 1965 feature.
I cannot tell for sure but it does not look like the van has the lower 6th row of grill slots which is very telling.
Another trivial item is the choke knob - I am stretching it by fuzz photo but it give the impression it is a '64 style.
VIN # - May have been you Donivan? I recall a few years back a thread on the different VIN number formats

On April 23, 1965 they ran out of 1964 bodys,,,,and switched over to the heavy duty cooling 6 slot grille, changed wheel cylinder sizes and got rid of one of the doghouse latches to save weight,,,,,,they invented SportVans, the glorified station wagons, in 1965, and that made the Vins G126,,,,until then, they were all G125 panels,,,,with all kinds of windows,,,,,,mine, with all windows, is rare.....but you had they display vans with windows only on one side,,,,,and even these No Doors,,,,

I already know 200% more about this van than yesterday.I don't recall seeing the "no door" vans back in the day.Are they fairly common?

You sure do Don.
The weird pat was the Nodoor was GM Cheapest van at that time.
The side doors were a Option($55.or $60.) Mine didn't come with visor or armrest on passage side.
Also only jump seat on Pass . 194 ,3 on tree. I bought my 64 in 1977 (didn't know it was a Rust bucket). I had never seen one.

Tom, I love the way you save these vans with rust issues that a lot of other people would just write off and give up on it...looks Great!

Does anyone know how many of the no doors were produced?
