Re: Looking for Late 65 / 66 Z-bar
Is that a grease zerk?? (would be good Idea, if it was closer to ball end)
And was it welded together(where zerk is??)?? Hope you find your part.

I do have one from a 65, I dont know what 3 speed it had. but is not the same dimensions as yours.
Is there a possibility yours is a custom home made?
This one is 9,1/4" X 7, 5/8" X 2, 1/4" tall,
its available if you can make use of it.

Thanks for offer m1D. I have straightened the lever of the Z-bar I have for now. The tube is still crooked from a previous bad weld (the bump in the middle that looks like a dirty zerk fitting). As for if it is custom made - for a 55 year old van it is surely possible - although the machining in the internal surface of the shaft, with the chamfer, looks OEM. The lever itself is intact and I don't see any modifications or old welds ground off. All the shift control rods line up perfectly from steering column to tranny including the 'U' guides midway through. For now I am using what I have until a better one is available.
As my van van is a very late 65, approximate the 35,000 one off the assembly line, it seems to included a few 66 modifications. The most so far involve the transmission and associated linkage. Odd ones are the serrated shift shafts coming out of the non synchro tranny (SM318 Muncie) similar to the 66 with the all synchro Saginaw.
This is making identifying the correct parts for my shifting linkage and associated parts interesting.
Thanks again
