It does look like the tailgate, rusty but at least it's there. Looks like some TLC might be able to bring it back...
I think you're right about the Irish Spring, I've used both dryer sheets and Irish Spring to try to keep kritters out of our Camper and I've seen mouse bites in the Irish Spring and little turds all around it so maybe it just gives their internals a cleansing...doesn't take much room at all for those mice to get inside in the winter months...I hates them meeses to pieces!!! -- Jinks the Cat

Moth balls work for me (to keep the vermin out). They are a bit odiferous, though.
