    Of the many Early Chevy  vans I owed ,worked on ,or cut up for parts. I never seen a part like that.

    I'm sure it's a very complex and precise part for a particular and intensely important function. To me, it looks "home made" but well made.

    That looks like the a floor reinforcement plate that used to come with the aftermarket Hurst standard trans floor shiftier in the 70s.
