He's been posting it a couple times per week for months if not longer now. Doesn't look too bad from the pics...

I called him months ago, seemed like a good guy. His story was that his buddy moved away and sold him the van. It "ran when parked" then but he put it on the trailer to take it home, and it has sat on the trailer ever since, like five years. He never got around to doing anything with it. So it's sitting there and won't start with dead battery etc. I guess no one is brave enough to take it on? Seems like a decent project base for sure and by now he has to be flexible on the price??

There's a new post today,
https://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/pts/d/santee-1967-chevy-sport-van/6869291140.html
It has more pictures, the back looks like a '66 with back up lights and it has chrome bumpers and those hard to find tail light trim rings, Oooooh I might have to go talk to him about buying the tail light trim rings?

Kind of a mystery van. Notice how it has no holes for West Coast mirrors, and no trio of holes where the triangle mount mirrors usually go. And the mirrors that are there are in a weird place. And no holes where the bowtie usually goes and it looks like fairly original paint? I wish I had room to store this away for a future project.

Looks like it could be a nice project for someone close enough to get their eyes and hands on it for closer inspection!

I called the owner this morning and drove out to Ramona to look at the Van.(Ramona is twice as far for me than Santee where it was listed by a friend, about 50 mile round trip)
It appears to be a '66 Deluxe to start, someone many years ago filled the holes and swapped out the engine, added a roof vent, paneling and carpet on inside roof etc.
The front bumper looks perfect for it's age, no dent's, no rust, nice! The rear bumper had been hit good on one side but fixable.
The interior door panels look to be original Deluxe style, chrome bumpers, chrome headlight rings, (trashed) and tail light trim rings make me think it was a deluxe.
All the doors and sides have either original type panels or paneling inside so I can't tell if the side trim holes are/were there and filled or not.
Sorry to say, it looks like the whole van was coated with a layer of Bondo type filler way back when and the rust has gotten under it causing chunks to come off, the roof is dented in above the drivers side and the windshield area inside and out are rusty, more rust under the roof area mostly in the back and of course the door pillars.
It does have some good parts, he would not sell me any of the parts at all.
I wanted the tail light rings mostly because they are so rare and the bumpers would have been nice to get but he didn't want to sell anything off of it.
I took some more pictures,
In my opinion it would make a great $500-1000 parts Van but the body makes it not fixable to me, You east coast guys would probably love to have it.
He did say he would take $2500 for it if someone wanted to pay that much and he would be willing to deliver within reasonable distance for a fee or sell a trailer with it if wanted, he had several there he buys and sells them.
Ken, (the owner)Really nice guy to talk to, he has paperwork from when he bought it and says it's not in the system, no back fee's due, Tag on license says '86.
These are pictures from the ad.

Too bad about the rust and bondo but I agree, I think he should part it out because it looks like it has some nice things that could be used to "pretty" up some other vans. Would be a nice donor vehicle.

Thanks for checking this one out, Russ! Not what you'd expect from a California Sportvan Deluxe!! Too bad.
You know how you hope to find an unmolested early van? I'd label this one as molested.
