It is possible to repair the broken pivot pins, which apparently is a common problem. I did a short writeup on how I fixed mine. I brazed it, but easy enough to tack back together with a Mig or Tig. Vent Window repair

Was planning on taking a close look once removed but this is good to see that it is possible to repair.
