Re: 66 Restoration, Advice Wanted
thats good to hear! I def do a mock up to take as little as possible...but thought sure I'd have to get into the floor. If anyone has a link to Donivan's info I'd love to read about it. I did a quick search but turned up much off topic stuff. Thanks!!

Re: 66 Restoration, Advice Wanted
Need help guys! please...does anyone know a link or item number for the bushing in the transmission mount hole? I have the 230 (I think, maybe a 250) with the 2 speed power glide.
I've seen lots of pics of after market brackets...I'd just be thrilled to find a bushing and put it back in like it came out.
Thanks!!

Re: 66 Restoration, Advice Wanted
My bias is I try to keep the oldies as stock as I can. So, no lowering for me. However, stopping distance on these oldies is way too long so I did M1 Dadios front (Trans Am rear) brake conversion. Brakes were easy yet the dual master was a PITA. Main contining problem is my shifter rods rub the master, now lubed with grease. Most guys here seem to go to automatics in conversions. I really like 3 on the tree--where it should be. However, some guys just go with metallic brake pads and get similar stopping power. I don't think rear disks get you much of anything yet see your point if you were replacing everything anyway, why no go disk. Good luck with the project. I haven't been able to figure out the picture posting on the revamped site even folowing good direction. Nonetheless, I hope you post pics of your project. Happy motoring, Mark
P.S. My gas tank was pretty good except it was about halfway crushed from PO backing over something. While cleaning it filled with some acidic water, pumped it up with an bike pump and got it a little bigger than factory. So far, even strapped it has stayed a little oversized. Remember, never presurized something that can explode with just air, fill it with water first. If you do explode it it wont kill you.

Re: 66 Restoration, Advice Wanted
Thank you Mark! I'm so excited about fixing up my old van...but have discovered its like a relationship with a woman! It's expensive, requires much detail and attention, and you better be in it for the long haul...because it take commitment! LOL Rite now have the entire suspension out, axles and rear end removed. Transmission back from rebuild and soon have the engine back. Chasing parts down has been tough! but making progress. Soon to begin putting it all back together! I did take the gas tank (which was in very good shape) along with the radiator to a local shop to be flushed and reconditioned. I'm dreading running all the brake lines again...and mounting the new master cylinder. Mine has the auto powerglide...so i'm hoping to issues like you had with the shifter linkage. I did figure out how to post pics...hope I can remember! Will post pics of progress. I see you are in DC....maybe I could visit you and see your van. I'm up in the VA Md area quite a bit with my job.
Have a great week end!!
