    And the survey says….

    Hey Gang,
    I am doing some historical “research” on 1965 production. My desire is to establish production start and end dates for the model year. In addition, block in the reference frame for early vs. late ’65 vans.

    Note: One “fun” result is that I made a formula based on the VIN. It will provide a close estimate of the production date of your ’65. I hope to get feedback that will refine the formula.

    The initial data request I have is based on your VIN number (just the last five digits)
    With that said, if you have a ’65 and would not mind providing feedback; here are some key references I am looking for:

    1) Very low VIN numbers i.e. The lowest number I have recorded is “04084” so under that number is requested.

    2) Early vs. Late* VIN between 0600 to 17500

    3) High VIN numbers – above 45000

    * Early vs. Late*
    a) 5 or 6 rows of front Grill Slots
    b) 1 or 2 Dog House Latches
    c) 66 style transmission linkage

    If you have a combination of early vs. late features – let me know – I have labeled these vans as “Transition”.

    Thank-you for your time

    Thank-you

    Do you think you have an original motor?

    Not cross checking any component dates - I estimate you van was built ~ 8 Sept '65,  77% through the production year.
