I have stainless to go back on next tank change. Just planned to use strips of that segmented packing tape. Don't know what it;s called--the stuff with the long fibers you can see in the tape. Pretty indestructable.

I used nothing but good paint on the tank.
If you are going to use something , use something that does not soak and hold water or you will be creating a battery and will end up with corrosion holes.
