Installing temporary gas tank Empty Installing temporary gas tank

I have to drop my gas tank to clean it out. What are some temporary set ups I could use that's cheap that I can use with a stock fuel pump. I am not crazy about putting a gas can in the cab. It does'nt have to be large capacity I am driving around the neighborhood on test drives.

    Thanks,Spydycarnge

A boat gas tank works great for temporary use. I ve got one I used in a pinch once. Much better than a typical gas can and wont tip over either.

A buddy of mine took the type of tank that sits behind an older chevy truck seat..........bolted it to side wall behind driver seat. put fill tube through wall. Took plywood and boxed it in. Even cut drain holes in floor by tank (just in case).

Got aftermarket gas gauge ( Sun I think)......hooked it up.

Easy to get to sending unit.........easy to run fuel line........takes little room.........no worry about corroding tank again......
Tank easily ordered new. Can even get them in plastic.

    Problem solved.............lol

I used a metal 5 gal. gerry can and drilled a 7/16 hole on the front side bottom and put in a metal type tire valve stem then removed the core. You fuel line will fit over it perfect.....

Marine tank works best for temp use, you might even strap it under the van.
