Hey all,I need to remove the rust from the inside of my engIne cover. I didn't realize how thin the metal is that the cover is made of so I am kind of worried about sand blasting it.I was reading about using Muratic acid but one guy said never use it so now I decided to go to the best source.......you guys . Has anyone sand blasted the cover without distorting it or is acid the way to go?

Normally you only have to worry about distortion with flat sheet metal while blasting. Use a light touch and do not keep the gun at the same spot for very long. Any small amount of rust left can be treated with an aerosol rust killer before primer and paint. Not saying it doesn't work but personally I have had little success with chemical rust removal.
