Van Top Replacement suggestions Empty Van Top Replacement suggestions

Post by Guest Sun Apr 10, 2016 11:01 am

    Greetings,

I have a A 100 that is rotted around the rain gutters and it has spilled up to part of the top, where the gutters and top connect.

Been thinking about some ways to correct this problem.

Thought I would throw it out to the van perfessionals at this site, to see if I get a few more ideas about what I can do to correct/fix this problem.

The main reason for the van is for enjoyment, not show worthiness. Just looking for a way to make the van, safe, sound, and enjoyable.

Also, going to add some type of wood, insulation, further along in the future, so the cosmetic angle of the interior is NOT important to me. Mainly looking for other ideas.

    Thanks for your continued support.

A picture's worth a thousand words, and all that. Can you post a few for us imagination-deprived members to help us get a handle on your problem?
    Thanks-

Some reference pics. Depends on what is gone. Might be worth finding a rusty bottom parts van for a donor cheap. If just pinholes and such a quick and dirty repair would be to clean up as best can , rust treat and blend in some duraglass

Awesome Digz, thanks for the reference pictures and the advice.

This is exactly what I am looking for and attempting to learn, from all those experienced vanners here at this site.

    Cheers

Looks like he's probably best off to try to find a donor vehicle like Scottie did with his...JMO

Now is the time you could put a pop top or Vista cruiser type roof on or do strip repairs. Sun roof graft from an older Toyota space van.

yeah, That needs a different roof if possible. Can be done in strips also. Either way it'll be a task but totally doable.

See the "Between the A seats" column. Search for roof repairs. There is some good advise there.

I do have a pop up top for a dodge van. Yet!!= The roof shown will need a complete donor roof as the tops I have wont cover that area. The dodges all used a 3/4 type top in early years before the fiberglass tops were invented in 68 up years usually. Travel equip tops =earlys .
