Speedo Drive Gear Replacement Empty Speedo Drive Gear Replacement

    Post by 64chevy Tue May 05, 2009 10:51 am

Anyone done this? How hard is it to do and where can I get the new gears? I recently changed my non-syncro 3spd Muncie with a syncro Saginaw and the little square output shaft on the new tranny isn't turning. So I'm guessing the speedo gear is worn out.

Golly Joe,,,,,I can't leave you alone for a minute,,,,,,,,unscrew the cable then unbolt the fitting then pull out the plastic driven gear and probably it is worn out at the end that the square cable is connected to,,,,,chevy still has them,,,,,I think they are red and have 25 teeth,,,,,

Here's what came out. The gear is pretty worn. The spiral drive gear inside the tranny looks pretty good.
