Keeping the heat down - Header Tape???

Hey, have any of you guys tried using header wrap high heat tape on you manifolds or headers to keep the heat down in your dog house?? I am going from a header to a manifold and was going to try it - unless someone has and didn't find it effective.

I can tell you header wraps are no good because they hold moisture and cause the headers to quickly rust.
