I have been working with Steel rRubber products to correct a problem with thier G van vent window seals. the seals have been too short as repoped. because I don't accept "less than correct".

I had sent them a complete engineering style report with pictures about the problem.

I was away for a while and just got back . The replacement seals arived while I was gone.
I picked up the replacement vent window seals today. They look great in the package. Like the paper says they want me to report back on how the new seals fit.

Apearantly they made a new mold and made an all new set of seals.

I will fit them on in the next few days and show here how the new vent window seals fit.

Curious to see your findings. I had my vent windows chromed and had that shop rebuild the window and replace seals at the same time. They charged me extra labor because it took longer to put them back together. If I understood correctly, three people were working to put the seal on the window and that was the major cause of the extra time. Not sure if that is related or not, but I will ask as well.

It takes alot of work to rebuild the vent window/devision bar assembly properly and about $150 in materials for each side.

I began installing the newest vent rubber seal.
It turns out they retooled the mold and made new ones instead of lengthening or repairing the first ne I had like they had originally said they would do.

The new gaskets fit prfect at the top anf need a minnor trimming where the top goes inside the channel.

The bottom fit is acceptable, I would preffer it to be a little longer to make a tight fit but its good enough as is.

I think if you intend to order these gaskets you better make sure they send you the new longer ones and not the old stock of t"too short" ones.

Those frames are dissasembled sand blasted primed and painted to look new. to make the vent window and devision bar assemblies (X2) restored costs about $200 CND in parts and about 40 hours of patience expiring labour. And some bleading fingers. In the end, you get what you pay for.
