    Tallest tires option? Empty Tallest tires option?

    Post by Abitibi Thu Nov 05, 2015 8:37 am

    G'morning gents

    I'm looking to confirm what would be the tallest tire that could fit under our vans. I'm not going for the slick city look but the other ways, rough and tough.

    I'll be using my van on forestry roads as much if not more than paved road and will likely dress her up with all terrain LT tires.

    Not many options so I'll move up to the 15" rims. I'm not looking for fat ones, I'm more into the skinny type anyway Wink

    I haven't seen many with that style of tires so hard to get any info. Since I'm getting new rims as well, if there's options with backspacing that can also help with taller tire fitment I'm listening!

    Or fitting an extra leaf? Moving the axle rearward? As long as it still looks close to stock I'm good.

    Cheers

    Those would be about 29" tall. Lots of choice in that size but do you really think they would fit? That would be quite the jump from my current 25" or so!

    That's gonna be  at least a minor challenge but if you stay with a narrow tread getting tall should work for you.  The clearance issue is always when you stick a wider rim with an offset that makes it stick out further.  Then the problem of rubbing the rear fender comes into play.   A 15x6 or 15x 7 rim with a zero or positive offset with a 225/75 or maybe even up to a 245/75 might fit.

    At least you won't likely have to raise it with springs/air shocks, blocks etc..

    Most tires don't come taller than the 75 ratio though so you'll kind of have to do some math.

    Here is a link to a calculator

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc

    Keep in mind...

    245 = 245mm tread width

    75= 75% of tread width at sidewall

    15= rim diameter

    If you get it dialed in and mounted up take some pix for us.
