    1st Gen Van T-Shirts? Empty 1st Gen Van T-Shirts?

Post by Lazarusvan Tue Oct 13, 2015 4:59 pm

I'm looking at having a pretty talented guy, Pinstripe Chris, make a rendering of my van so that I can see the color on the van. I thought it would be cool to make some T-Shirts as he provides it in a format that can be directly printed and would be most affordable in a black and white format. Art would be a clean image with no crazy bug eyed monsters popping out like is the norm for van art.

Would you be interested in a 1st Gen, panel van T-Shirt if it costs $25 or less? I might have him add Vintage Vans to it somewhere if that is Chebby approved. Could probably have stickers made as well.

Trying to gauge potential interest before moving forward because the rendering cost's a few bucks to do and this would offset that cost. Not trying to make money on it. T shirts would NOT be black and would ideally be the retro, pre-faded soft material.

You can check his work on FB.

He does a great job I would like to see his rendering of a 1st gen. But I'm in for a shirt either way.

I think I'm definitely going to do it. I say 1st Gen only because that is the design I would be having made.

It's cost prohibitive to have different images made. They will be cool regardless. I'd wear any early van shirt myself, no matter the make.

I'm sure we will have more demand once I get a design. I checked on prices, and the more you order, the cheaper they get. I can actually have them made in different colors and fabrics, so I may be able to give you different price points if it doesn't get too confusing.

I can also do them in full color vs. monochrome more cheaply if I use a digital image using a heat process vs. silk screening. Screening has a one time setup fee for each color used.

Still working on it and finally got the artist to work on my rendering. I am definitely doing the rendering, so it will happen. Will post up photos of the design when ready and then pursue pre-order pricing.

Post by Lazarusvan Tue Dec 15, 2015 7:39 pm

Hey, guys. Pretty excited about how these turned out.

The darker, 1st example was an initial 1st rendering.

The second is actually the color I wanted to see on paper. It's Mossport Green that was used on Corvettes. I love it, but it comes down to subtle vs. a bit more energy color wise. I would be confident it isn't found on many, if any other vans.

The first is closer to the GM 504 Medium Olive that was my original love. BF Goodrich Radial T/A lettering will be added to the image. I've seen his lettering and it's dead on.

Regardless, this is the look of what T-Shirts will have design wise and what my van will look like in terms of tires, wheels, etc. Probably only a two color shirt to keep costs down, although a 4 color silkscreen would be awesome and I could make the van any color. T-Shirts likely won't be black as I want a cool temp shirt. Possibly faded red or white.

I will need to find a price point for shirts, but assuming $25 for normal sizes and a few more bucks for XL's as our top end, let me know who is interested so I can put numbers together. Once I pull the trigger on shirts, I will have to have paid customers before ordering.

Keep in mind there is watermarking on the image that won't obviously be on T-Shirts.

Any feedback on the image itself or even the color is welcomed. Paint is a week or so away.

Go with the stronger colored green. And I'm in for a medium as long as it's not a white shirt. I never wear white in my line of work and I prefer as dark as possible.

Good news: Going with 4 color, full color silkscreen. Quality will be better and will last longer. Leaning towards Grey. Non-Chevy van owners welcome.

This is the basic idea.  I might go a little darker grey.  Probably a heather and probably a 50/50 blend. The van logo you see is the way it would look on the shirt.

I'm in for a medium. The darker the grey the better (for my preference and cause the van design will contrast best on a darker tone).
