Maxx Fan... Anyone? Empty Maxx Fan... Anyone?

    Post by K-Noods68 Sat Jun 27, 2015 8:39 pm

Saw a 76 Chevy on eBay that has a Maxx Fan over the cab. Thought it might be some new fangled version of a Super Scoop, so I googled it. Seems fairly nifty with the remote and everything.

Anyone have any experience or know of someone that has used one of these? Any reviews? Opinions?

I mean asides from cutting a hole in your roof and the risk of leaking.

Seems like it would work, but you can get a traditional pop-up vent hatch with an electric fan option for much less $$$

probably doesn't draw like that super fan but at 1/10th the price should do a decent job...

I had one of those cheap vents with the fan and found the fan worthless. Notice how small the fan is with no shroud.

I would like a remote open/close. Does not need to be wireless. It is not far to run a wire.

Here is a link to the MAXX fan showing a large fan and shroud. It is expensive, but hey, don't our vans deserve the very best? Very Happy

I just noticed the MAXX model 4500K has a rain sensor that automatically closes the vent if it rains. Cool.
But then I read the reviews and found a lot of unhappy owners.

working in the rv industry, ive installed lots of the maxx fans, as well as the fantastic fans. they really move some air. i usually stockpile them in my garage when i remove them to install roof ac units. the fan is 12'' round. there is no comparison between one of these two, and a roof vent with a small fan.
