Re: Door hinge bushings
I'm finally getting around to hinges. Old posts like this are invaluable.
Perhaps a dumb question, but in Donivan's photo, it seems to suggest the H bit is used on the outer half of the hinge, and the R on the inner. Shouldn't the bigger R bit be used for the outer half of the hinge to accommodate the bushings?

Re: Door hinge bushings
Bushings go in the center section and pin is pressed into 2 outer ears.

Re: Door hinge bushings
Ha! Good thing I asked. That never would have occurred to me. Thanks very much for the response and clarification. Pins and bits are now on order.
Are there any tips and tricks for getting the hinges off the body and door, or is it just basically brute force and ignorance with an impact wrench?

Re: Door hinge bushings
I would ,,,,,practice,,,,, on a side or back door 1st,,,,,,,the hinges are held in by 4 bolts, 2 are kinda hiding behind the post, undue the bolts on the upper hinge, close the door, slide the hinge out and see if it will take an acetylene torch to heat the hinge so you can push the pin out,,,,those 4 bolts are easy but sometimes that pin aint too anxious to leave his home after 50 years, but go take out those 4 bolts on a door, pull the hinge out and see what you got,,,,,door will still work with 1 hinge if you are careful. On mine, the inside of the hinge grommet was like new so I just glued it on the outside.
