I just found this forum today and was reading posts when I came across this one about balky wipers. My 63 E14 Van that I bought when I was 21 (I'm turning 65 next month) did this especially when the windshield was a little dry. My problem turned out to be the wiper switch or more specifically the automatic circuit breaker inside the switch. It seems that when the windshield is dry the motor pulls more current and a breaker that's a little too sensitive will cut out and then a minute or so later it cuts back on. My van hasn't been driven in several years but I'm hoping this year since I've retired to get it back on the road. I'll never part with it, I brought my Daughter home from the hospital in it and she turns 40 this year, my Grandson will inherit it...
