should have an inlet & outlet hose to core - loop one end to other side of engine so water just circulates in a circle & not thru core!! By the way - try some bar's leak stop-pint liquid can- put it in & run it a while- likely will stop the core leak!! Ive done that several times - & had last now for over 8+ years now in 1 of mt late model cars.

Hook them together under the glove box,,,,in front of the radiator or at the engine,,,,,,or plug them off.......
