    Post by moira.red July 1st 2014, 01:39

Hi, not to good with all this pc techy stuff, joined the forum with insurance company recommendation as it gets my insurance lower, and I am all for saving money.
Hoping for some helpful information on best to do for the forum, and some helpful advice on the vehicle I am hopefully about to buy today.....
Chevrolet GMC 6.2 V8 Dayvan 1989, I know everyone is going to scream out gas guzzler, well its petrol and its gonna drink lots I know, but I know nothing of them so please be kind.
I am unfortunately replacing my poor Mazzy Bongo who got written off on the M180 20th June, a lovely stationary vehicle and a flatback with me the meat in the sandwich, except it was an ice-cream meat in the sandwich, the type with wafers on three sides, cos 3 sides got totaled.
Looking forward to getting to know yaaww'l and the forums best tips.
    Regards

Welcome moira to the VV site. Unfortunately your van(1989) is too new for us here but always someone in here that can probably help you out. Our vans and trucks are 1961 to 1972( I think...lol.).

Thanks heaps Big W, please accept my apology. I thought the early enough title meant pertaining to beginner to site.... I have struggled with forums in the past, when people tell you off for adding comments to the wrong site.....
I did however bypass the vehicle with a very long stick yesterday as even my finger was too heavy for its rusty bits.
Thinking on another today, will update in the forum hopefully in the correct place if I get her.

No probs donivan65, I appreciate your opinion. And stand corrected as I thought the early enough post may have been related to new beginners.

You are in the right spot,,,,,,,Early Enough........our vans don't have hoods so they have nothing in common with the ones that do,,,,,,,,,,but the reason is everyone here has a Vintage van,,,,,,maybe 3 people have a van like yours,,,,,so you might not get much help from us, but we will try,,,,,,,so we have a spot for people with OLD vans,,,,,,,,we keep the Vintage Vans and Old vans separate,,,,,,,,,,so ask questions and post pictures here if you have them,,,,,,,,

No apology necessary Moira. As I and Donivan stated, someone in here still may be able to help you out with questions. My daily drivers are 01 GMC and an 01 Ford - both vans. So post us a pic and if you have questions....fire away, and we will try to help if we can.

Thanks all, but the GMC I tried for had more rust than car, and it were down right awful.
Went slightly more smaller, newer, more road worthy, but definitely not friendly on the eye in dayglow orange lol....... Got myself a Renaul Trafic Holdsworth San Remo Camper Van 1995.
So I am guessing Im defo in the wrong group, but I appreciate all comments, will post for suggestions in other links on VintAGE, and hope to hear from you there when I post.
    Thanks peeps

you never know,,,,,,hang around,,,,,you might just find out why a person must be out of their mind to own such a vehicle  that has no power steering or brakes, no air conditioning,,,,noisy.....unsafe, unreliable, gas sits in the carburetor bowl smelling up the whole van,,,,,you sit on the radiator and has the worst cooling system ever made,,,,,,,are you motivated to buy a Vintage van,,,,,,the original,,,,,yet?
