Well, I went down tonight and to look over the no-door. The body itself isnt in to bad of shape. Theres some cancer on the drivers door, at the bottom corners of the windshield frame, and on the roof where the sunroof is cut in. The drivers door has fitment issues as does the rear doors. All the interior handle splines are round now and need to be replaced. The van hasnt been reg. since 1981 and there is no title. The slots arent in to bad of shape and the tires are shreaded, the 351C has been literally CUT into the van. The floor is cut up and the engine has been moved back cause it doesnt fit between the seats and the mount/crossmember is welded in and will have to be cut out and redone. It does have a C6, a 9" rearend, and the oldest, ugliest, smellyest carpeted 70's interior you'll find. The condition of the inside floors, or for that matter the inside period is unknown due to the carpet job, it also has 8" shackle extenders front and rear (must handle good). More of a project van than a fixer to me, I told him I didnt want to insult him but that its worth $500 to me and if knowone buys it, you got my #.

    So I'm still lookin.

Its kinda cool lookin but will require ALOT of work to get on the road. It would be a good "project", but I'm not looking for a project right now. One of the guys at work told me about a gen1 G-van thats sittin in someones yard over in Running Springs. I'll be checking that out tomorrow.

To bad, I think we all thought it was a keeper. It's a good thing you went to look at it, to many times these days deals are made online and the vehicle isn't what it was said to be .This happened to me once but in my case the excitement of getting the car clouded my judgement. Now when I look at the original pics all the problems were there right in front of me.Keep looking the right one for you is out there .

I went and looked at the G-Van tonight, its got some of its own issues. It hasnt been reg. since 01 and has a vent cut into the roof. Not a crank vent but a round vent like is on the roof of your house??. It also has a square hole in the back roof for a 14x14 vent, but no vent. It has no windows and a hole cut in the side with what looks like an exhaust pipe sticking out? The roof over the pass/driver compartment is got a good tweak to it too. There was knowone home, and it looked like knowones been there all winter. I will drop by from time to time hoping I will catch someone.

Kowboy, either is good! Both have great potential due to the body condition! You may get a call on the econo, and $500 is okay for that (powertrain, rims, body) And the Chev, I would buy that today, as I tend to have a soft spot for vans needing major repairs!

Good luck on both... maybe you will be up for a little project activity!
