Post by Oscarm Mon May 19, 2014 4:03 am

Just bought a '65 E100 pickup. Has a slide in camper top that seems to have been made for it. The front matches the cab angle of the E100, the rear access door and window assembly perfectly matches the tailgate opening. No identifying info on it. Little or no interior components. It just fills the box, and does not go up over the cab roof.
Otherwise, it's in superb shape. No clue as to how to post photos here, so email me if you need one of these things: 'melaqueoscar (at) gmail.com'.
Unit is in Ontario Canada. A '24' of Molson Canadian will buy it, or if you're an American, you will need 24 Sam Adams.  Please come and get it...it's too nice to scrap.

A friend sold his 65 with a cap like that on it. Is the pickup a white Spring Special distress painted?

    .

Ken Hopcraft had it a few years ago. I'm interested in the cap for sure. Ken actually got the cap from me and I located that truck for him to restore to bring it all full circle. The cap was on a truck I sold and I was truckless for several years but now have 2 of them.

There should be pics of the truck and cap together in the Baker's photo section about 5 years ago.

Hey Oscar, Ken here in Breslau (Kitchener). I'm the guy who had that truck and did the full restore on that camper top a few years ago. Small world. Where are you?

Hi Ken. Still have a big file that you started, and I was planning on getting hold of you. Starting soon on a full resto. With a 302 to start. Firstly, that ugly camper has gotta go! The truck is still pretty decent, and the interim owner had a lot of fun with it...he towed it all over the US with his highway coach / motor home.
Body is still solid, but needs a few days (weeks?) in a good body shop to get it really straight.
The Econo's new home is right near Sauble Beach. Do you have any E100's in your current collection?
Surprising that I can find no pix of a 'Spring Special' in white. Maybe this is the only one? Tempting to put it back to a nice crisp modern white, but a couple of other finishes in discussion.
Maybe best contact me via my email address....We gotta meet sometime!

7 years and Ken finally posted, lol. I alerted him earlier today about his old cap and truck. Clarke Andrews down in Florida has a white Spring Special like yours. He is on facebook and you can see it there. While we got ya, we would love to have you bring the truck to Baker's in Milford Michigan in a couple weeks. It's been there before. Vanfest in Aylmer would be cool to. They welcome trucks.

Ouch!! It is kind of an ugly duckling lol, but found it so period correct. So I spent almost a year restoring that camper shell. All new wood, insulation, wiring etc. The back door should be removed first before the rest of the camper taken off so you can set it down level. You'll have to remove that exterior light first toraise the door high enough to remove it.

As far as the truck goes, it is a factory white SS with an automatic and had 411's in that 9". Told it was owned by a woman in Northern California. Makes sesne now with the options it came with.
Like Tim says, come out to Vanfest father's day weekend, then Milford Mi the following weekend.
I'll send you an email rather than boring others with my rambling, and yes, I have another SS and a 67 short 8door panel van.

Still has the curtains! No bunks. Has Falcon 'Spinners' on it now, and some serious LED lights on the back.

Take a truckload of beer for those hubcaps, but I do get thirsty. Seats and camper tops are
pretty much 'charitable donations' ....Those hubcaps are open to generous offers.  pirat
Thanks for the updates and info on my SS. Looked up the pix of Derek's white one, so that was interesting to see too. Have had some correspondence with Ken too. He's almost in my backyard...small world.
    See you shortly...

Windshield rubber, vent window rubbers, division bar guides, SOFT door weather stripping. The 'Carpenter' door stuff is too resilient, and doors are hard to shut.
.... The anti-rattle belt strips are fine.
I need these bits, so if you have 'inventory', I'll take em. Thanks!

[size=16]If Tim in KY doesn't take the hubcaps can you send me a pic and price when you have time?

I guess I'm learning all SS's weren't Poppy Red! I believe on another Forum there was a two-color light blue and white that I read was a SS. I didnt see the VIN so don't know what color code came up. Mine came up as the 3, Vermillion (Poppy Red) 1730. [size]
