Re: A, G, E ? what does this mean ?
Its the model numbers of the Early vans,,,A is for the Dodge A100,,,,G is for the Chevy/GMC G10,,,E is for the Ford E100,,,,,and that 1 is the rating for 1/2 ton load capacity,,,,the bigger trucks go like series 20, 30 probably up to 60,,,,but the word Vintage just happens to fit EXACTLY what we are interested in.........the 1st vans, with the engine inside,,,,and no hoods,,,,,,,

,,,and as for the word VINTAGE,,,,,back in 1967 the vans were the thing to have,,,,everybody wanted one,,,,Chevy and Dodge said we got a good thing going,,,,making tons of money on these vans,,,,,lets make up enough parts to build vans for the next 3 years and then just sit back and count our money,,,,,,,HOWEVER,,,,,,FORD,,,,,gets a good deal on hoods,,,,,puts them on their 1968 vans,,,,opens the hood,,,sees that you can put the engine, trans, power steering and brakes and air conditioning under that hood,,,a radiator that actually cools the engine,,,,no doghouse now between the seats,,,puts a twin beam coil spring suspension on them also......so the next days headline in 1968 read,,,,"Ford kills off the vintage vans with the introduction of their new 2nd Generation vans",,,and to this very day,,,thats what you see when you open a van hood......

And apparently they did not succeeded in killing them off, because we are still here many years later keeping them alive.
Long live the Vintage Vans!

Re: A, G, E ? what does this mean ?
Just seeing if anyone was paying attention! You win Space! I used to own an 80's Chevy Conversion van that I still miss but now that I've got an early again, I have to stand proud!
I really like the look of the 2nd Gen Fords also! They've got that AGGRESSIVE look to them!
