    They still have it here:

    http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/toughone-or-ready-aire-heater-core-398237/20820003-P

If you go to that link and click 'Read 1 review", you will see the write-up on this part I posted, complete with pics. This is your 1dst gen replacement heater core. It fits and works fine.

The chevele was aluminum so they sent it back.He called all over for core with no luck.Said he called someone that did vintage vehicles and would make a core for $250.00 He kept trying and finaly found a piece of core in new york.83.50 +15.00 shiping. He only charged me 30.00 labor to put my tanks on.Sounds to me like with every thing going to aluminum, even the core block is getting hard to comeby

of corse now that i have mine the weathers finally warming.I put my zip in on orileys and it comes up out of stock.I should probably look now for a spare for my 42 and my 60 as it looks like there just going to get harder to find.I was wondering on the vans,as long as you could get a core to fit the box couldnt you just run your hoses through the floor to conect to the tank if you had too?

This is common occurrence in Detroit. Some people have even managed to electrocute themselves stealing power lines.

They are also stealing and scrapping manhole covers, and you will be hard pressed to find a house in Detroit still wearing it's aluminum siding.

I bought a 3 gen chevy van and removed the end with the tubes
and soldered the tube end from the 2 nd gen, still putting out heat.

Its the scrap yards fault......Im a Detroit native, and the scrap yards dont care what is it or where the stuff comes from.....they even take cars without paperwork (Ive had a few cars stolen and scrapped).....   CA makes you wait two days to come pick up the scrap money and it come by check.

But I really wanted to ask about my van, I dont have a heater core or motor or wiring or switches......so im assuming that the heater was optional?

I just bought a heater core #398237 from Advanced Auto online. I used the link on the first page. there is currently 20% off if you enter your email address. brings the price down to $44.79 + shipping $11.49, or if you spend another $30.21 you get free shipping.
