How many yards of material will it require to make a set of covers for 65 E van front seats?

Do you know some one who sews? My wife has done motorcycle seats for me using an older sewing machine. Like a lot of other projects its not that hard once you dive in.

Yeah Fred's stuff is top notch. He'd be a good guy to talk to about it.

I did talk to Fred via PM. Just something I wanted to try myself. I'm building this van as a 20 footer . No restoration just a decent look and my own work as much as possible. Keeps me out of the nursing home Cool Thanks to all.

Only word of advice I can give you is that if you have an original set of seats there are front and rear hemmed flaps that are hog ringed to the frame ... inside those flaps are corrugated wires ... these prevent the rings from pulling through the upholstery ... the few re upholsteries I have seen don't have these wires and rely on the hem to hold ... they do for a while ... but they shred over time ... if these wires don't exist there should be something in there ... Fred C might agree ... again ...I'm just an amateur

It takes about 2 1/2 yards on vinyl, 54" wide to do 2 seats. 1 1/2 yards for the inserts and 1 yd for the trim.

Thanks for all the replies. I have decided I'm in over my head on this one . I'm a decent mechanic but I can see now this upholstery is an art . Thanks again.  Smile Smile

Some things are best left to the professionals. Fred did these for me. No way I could even come close to this.
