The reverse lights on a 1968 Sportsman, is the contact in the shifter? Ball and Trunnion, convert it or grease and cover? Front breaks, convert to disk or leave the drums? Thanks, Mike

YES, YES, AND YES ON THE DISC BRAKES, There is some parts aval on the trunion but I took my shaft to a driveshaft shop and had mine converted, and i beleive on the automatic tranny the nutural saftey switch is the contact for the reverse lights. there is only one wire at the shifter , For the light,

Hmmm.. The neutral safety switch could be a problem.. The motors a 340 from a 1970 Cuda.. I'll have to figure this one out.. Were the calipers a problem for your front tires post conversion? Just get the flush side walls.. What seems to be the best conversion fit?

Bil Carson Scottie and I are not running the typical bolt on disc brake conversion set up ours are for a lack of a better word a self enginered setup, but requires a trip to a junk yard and some machine shop work, If this is not avail I'd say go with the scarbird set up that will just bolt right up , I'd say we have about 6 or move members who went that route, As far as the factory /stock rims they will not clear the calipers , I did try the mopar rallye wheels 14" and 15 " and they did not fit either. I am running the cragar s/s wheels 14" and they do work, so what you need is a newer wheel that was intended to work withe the disc brake caliper set up, most aftermarket wheels should work,... Also you will be changing the master clyinder (mc) on this upgrade.Dodge Man is the most recent member to do the scarbird disc brake conversion, Regardless we can walk you thru what set up you choose .

Thanks guys! I'll be cleaning, preping and sealing my gas tank tomorrow.. POR-15 seemed like the best from everyone I'd talked to.. Using the marine cleaner, then metal prep, then sealer..I think there were 3 different tanks for that year van.. My sending unit is I. The rear of the tank.. Not easy to find one in good condition.. This one was pretty dirty inside but otherwise ok..

you should need your axle rating either 2,200 or 2,500lb. and i beleive it's 10" or 11" not 9"
2,200 should be 10"
2,500 should be 11"
2,200 should be 10"
2,500 should be 11"

I'll check it out. The master cylinder needs to be changed out too.. Is there a recommendation?

the wheel /leaf spring ratings are on your vin plate. the drum bolt spacing is ( 5 on 4 1/2 )
NOT 5 ON 4. THE MC NEEDED IS FROM A 1970-THRU 1974 DODGE --B VAN , it had front disc brakes and drums in the rear, so it had front disc but did not have a booster so it did not have power brakes.
I hope that makes since, there is some sheet metal cutting involved to make the mc in place.
