Re: todays random image (part #4)
I hate the look of the new Ford Transit Vans but if they had a version like this one over here, I'd love to own one like this! Thanks for the cool pics!

I Resemble that remark!!! Ford drivers need the helmet to protect themselves from all the Chevy and Mopar drivers on the road!

Re: todays random image (part #4)
English Transit Van around 1971.
That van (if I remember correctly) was built on a GT40 chassis and had a V8 in the rear tray.
It was stupidly fast and needed those tyres to stay on the rad/track.
Hang on I just Googled it, try this link.

Thats the Ford Supervan version 1
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnqdIsBJT0A
The newer versions featured some pretty crazy engines including F1 engines, but the original is still my favourite. Wonder what happened to it...?

Funny, I watched a movie with the fam last night, "BMX Bandits" filmed in Australia, and the bank robbers drove one of these transit vans into a bank. Movie was also Nicole Kidmans first flic.

Re: todays random image (part #4)
At one stage in the UK the Transit van was the choice of any self respecting bank robber.
Back in the 60's the Pom's had slow underpowered cars (true sport cars and Jag MKII's aside) so the Transit could outrun anything Morris/Ford/Vauxhaull had on the road and that the local copper was likely to drive.

Re: todays random image (part #4)
MK1 Transit vans are very rare now over here. They don't look anything like that one above though. That has massive flared arches and a raised and widened wheel stance.

Re: todays random image (part #4)
Always did like the oddballs.. Ford Transit, Thames,Morris Minor, Crosley. Love to have that one, wonder how much that would be converted to US dollars and shipping? Probably a bundle to bring it across the pond.

Re: todays random image (part #4)
After a little bit of looking the british convertion would be 15,995.00 to the United States Dollar is $26,187.00 Before shipping, and looking at that ford it looks like a fair price, for the work that was done,

Re: todays random image (part #4)
I haven't seen an operating MkI Transit in Australia for 15 plus years.
They were simply flogged to death by tradesmen who wanted every cent out of their investment.
Even at my local Pick a Part (which I used to visit almost weekly) I haven't seen a one in the last 4 years.
quite a few had their V4 engines replaced with 302 and 351's which got them a little more motivated.
