Update form "Door pin help" . I let the hinges soak in Kroil for two days. Took a 3 lb hammer two wacks and the pin is out.
I'll be doing this to the rest of the hinges soon if I have problems I'll let you know, if you don't hear anymore about this from me everything worked out fine.
This kroil stuff is awesome!!! ~ GK.

Hi, I just signed on tonight as a member. I've had my 65 g10 for 13 years. It's my only vehicle. Its time to change the hinge pins, they're almost 'done'. As you in the middle of this? Where did you find he replacement pins? Congrats on your progress!

Probably a stupid question, but how do you know the hinge pins are toast? Do the doors not open properly? Too far? Etc. Or do they drop down?

just barely open the doors and lift up on them with the outside door handle,,,,the doors will move up if the hinges are bad or the metal around them is cracked,,,,,

Glad to hear you got it free. I made the mistake of buying a Hinge Pin Removal Tool, I think a T-100, from Bob Drake. After f-ing around with it too long, cheap made in China tool, it just made matters worse. Then, when I tried to return to Bob Drake, their rep. Darius Englen (a tool himself) who had originally assured me it wasn't made in China admitted it was made in Taiwan. Funny, that's China too and that their unconditional warranty didn't apply. I only say this for the public good.

Will never do business with Bob Drake & Co. again. They lost alot of money ripping me off for $25.

Best for me is a vise and a punch yet requires removing the hinge. What a PITA all the way around. Great to have nice smooth closing doors tho people still slam them like it's some old piece.

Sorry you got ripped off by that a-hole and good for you to spotlight him so know one else gets screwed. most times I find the old ways are a little more work, but always more successful.

Good thing about this site is they usually let such "Heads Up" messages stay on the board. Tried to warn the fellas at the "Jalopy Journal" and "Hokey Ass Message Boards"--I think all the same company. They banned me for life. Turns out Bob Drake is one of their advertisers and they don't allow criticism of any vendors. Didn't even warn me--just banned me for a similar comment you responded to. Truth hurts. Amazing really. Reminds me I need to donate some more money here as it's good VV isn't an advertising vehicle.
