67 GMC Wipers

Need some help.  If I do not have the wiper drive link attached to the back of the wiper motor, everything works fine.  But, once I attach that little link peice to the back of the wiper motor...then as soon as I turn on the ignition (wiper switch still off) it blows the wiper fuse.  What the hell am I doing wrong?

Also, which way should that little drive link point?  Up or down?

I am pretty sure I did the wires right. At least, how they were when I bought the van (wipers did not work at all then). Anybody got a good pic or the wires/colors hooked up properly the to the Wiper motor and Washer motor for a 2nd gen? Just in case.

LMAO...just bought it not long ago. Will probably take it back to AutoZone this weekend. It would still be nice to have a pic of all the propper 2nd gen wires going to the wiper motor and washer motor just to be sure I (and the previous owner) have everything correct. :-)

goes to the washer pump the blue and black go to the switch
