I think this would be a Great transformation piece for the Online Van Magazine. Magic, you and your wife have done an outstanding job and I think the readers would think so too! Just a thought!

Im glad you guys all like it, it was a ton of work, gallons of sweat and more than a buck or two to make it happen...I didnt do it to have a show van or bragg about it, I just wanted a nice econo that I could put around in.  I was discouraged at times, and wondered if I needed my head examined. As I said in the end it turned out pretty nice, I am lucky to have wife that has an eye for what works and what doesnt when it comes to color combinations and design. Not only that she's good looking and is a great cook, heck she even helped me put in all the cargo windows and the windshield!

I'll post more pics after I get the emblems and mirrors on, and then later some interior shots once I get the dash together.

Been making lots of progress, still gotta get the carpet down and finalize the seat mounts and seat belts.

Some of the things Ive accomplished since the fall shots I posted, heater box installed, Dash completed, All systems working, heater, signals, wipers, lights etc..wipers/washers mounted, door handles, master cylinder rebuilt, new dizzy, painted air breather, installed all new window channel runs, beltline fuzzies vent window gaskets, tinted all the windows, painted armrests, sunvisors etc...the list goes on and on...

A big thanks to Fred Carello for selling me these sweet 2nd gen mirrors, got em installed today.

Looking back through this thread reminds me of all the inspriation Gman was

    Got to keep pushin....

Magic, Truly inspiring! GMan's smiling down at your progress...You're eating the elephant one bite at a time and it's turning out Great with all your efforts!!! Thanks, can't wait to see the inside once it's done! Those mirrors look like the perfect size, big enough to see what's behind yet small enough that they don't take up too much real estate on the doors!

That is a great paint scheme! I went with the classic turquoise and ivory on my Sportvan, but your going with a silver gives it a bit of a modern hot rod feel. I like that you came up with a different way of doing the two-tone from the usual way. I had wanted to find a way to end up with the white on the roof to keep it cool in the sun but I ended up sticking with the standard pattern.

I'm about where you're at, still putting a the little parts back on, and trying not to scratch the paint in the process! (I haven't even updated my profile photo yet!)

    Fun stuff.

First car show was pretty good. Lots of lookers. There was an a100 and a 73 streetvan. Father's Day trip around the block didn't go as well.  Carb spewing gas all over the engine with no tools left me no choice but to call a tow truck. Working on carb now. Trying to find bowl gasket. Appeared to have something very small in the needle valve.

Carb fixed took a victory lap tonight, and a couple of shots of the interior. Keep in mind guys, this thing is not perfect..it should have been scrapped, but its my first restoration.

What is the black on your dash and glove box? Vinyl or matte finish paint? Looks good.

That is the Dupli Color vinyl and fabric paint -flat black sprayed over the factory dash pad and the factory glove box. Bought it at Orielys auto parts.  The final result was good but it took a few trys to get the color even. The glove box lid came with the van and I got the perfect dash pad from a member here cheap.
