First let me say THANKS FOR ALL THE CONCERN SHOWN HERE !!!!!!!!! It's a good feeling to know that people are thinking about you and willing to help if they can!
Finally got the power back on last night about 11:30 pm. after seven days and five hours without. You don't realize how much you depend on electricity until you have to do without it for so long. When I talked to Nightmoves yesterday morning that was the first phone call we have had on the land line in a week, didn't know that it was back up until then. Even the cell phones were down for the first four or five days.
I didn't have to stay in the motorhome but sure was glad that I had it. I ran extension cords from it into the garage to run my 110v well pump and a refrigerator. After last years ice storm I had installed gas logs in the house so heat wasn't a problem. All in all the whole week wasn't that bad for us but I guess I was quite a bit better prepared than a lot of people here. We made a run to Sam's Club Saturday morning to pick up a few things and there was a line of people out the front door waiting on generators. Inside they were running two forklifts from the front to the back of the store hauling pallets of generators just as fast as they could to the people for around $950 each. Lowe's and Home Depot looked like a tornado had been through them. Any wire big enough to hook up a generator, chain saws and chains, two cycle oil and kerosene heaters were gone! It was about three days before there was any kerosene available( my son was using my heater to keep the water from freezing in his place and luckily I had 10 gal. here) and the lines were about 1-2 hours long with temp's running in the mid 20's to the low 30's.
I'll post some pic's of the place a little later, but right now I've got to start rolling up extension cords. It's really amazing how the flip of a switch seems to put everything back to normal !!!!!!
